Composed of crushed pure granite or limestone, the material sizes range from 40 mm down to dust to create an easily compacted aggregate. Because the aggregate grades smoothly from 40 mm down to very fine particles, it ensures a minimal amount of voids in the finished base. What is the price of Type 1 stone per tonne?

Based on current pricing, a single bulk bag of MOT Type 1 costs £56.40 + £22.00 delivery (excluding VAT). Working on a jumbo bag weighing the minimum amount of 800 kg, the equivalent cost per tonne is £98.00. If you order three or more bags, delivery is free, which brings the cost per tonne down to £70.50. When buying in larger quantities via bulk load deliveries, the price becomes substantially lower as the goods are delivered and tipped loose direct from the quarries.

How are bulk bags delivered?

Typically, bulk bags of MOT Type 1 are delivered on large, crane off-load wagons that weigh between 17 and 32 tonnes. These vehicles are equipped with a crane that has an approximate reach of 5 metres, allowing it to place the bag in the most suitable position from where the wagon can safely park. If delivery is to a residential address, the wagon usually needs around 3 to 4 car lengths of space to get close to the kerb for optimum reach. Please note that cranes cannot lift over parked vehicles, and there must be no overhead obstructions such as power cables, telephone lines, or tree branches.
