Chipboard Flooring 22mm - 2400 x 600mm Sheets

22mm T&G chipboard flooring is a popular choice for residential and commercial applications due to its durability, affordability, and ease of installation. It is made from compressed wood particles bonded with resin, and its 22mm thickness provides excellent strength and soundproofing qualities.

22mm tongue and grooved chipboard flooring is a thicker and more durable option than 18mm thickness. It is also moisture-resistant, making it suitable for use in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. 22mm thickness is designed to be used for joist centres above 400mm. For anything below this, 18mm can be used. When using chipboard flooring on solid floors, either thickness can be used.

This product is commonly called many different names such as 22mm P5 Chipboard, 22mm Moisture Resistant Chipboard, V313 22mm, 22mm T&G Flooring, 22mm Loft Floor Boards, 22mm Loft Board and also by one of the manufacturers name - 22mm Caberfloor.

Manufactured from a mixture of carefully selected wood chips and blended with a melamine urea resin.

Machine profiled with diamond tipped tooling to achieve a precision tongue and grooved profile on all 4 sides.

What is 22mm Chipboard flooring used for?

A very common use for these boards is as a 22mm loft floor board. However as the 22mm chipboard is very versatile and resistant to moisture, they are suitable for all areas of a house including kitchens and bathrooms. 22mm thickness is designed to be used for joist centres above 400mm. For any spacings below 400mm, 18mm may be used.

Before making a purchase it is important so check what centres your timbers are at. Most modern developments would now have larger joist centres. This would mean that 22mm would need to be installed.

If you're planning on installing as a 2400 x 600 x 22mm loft board, it is worthwhile checking to make sure the sheets will fit you through your loft access hatch.

How do I install Chipboard Flooring?

Make sure the flooring is fitted in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations:

This will ensure a good installation and a long-lasting flooring.

Subfloor:

In order to achieve a good installation, the subfloor must be level and smooth.

Moisture levels:

Before the flooring is installed, it is imperative that the subfloor is dry.

Once care has been taken in the preparation as detailed above, the chipboard flooring are then laid the opposite way to the floor joists and then slotted together using the tongue and grooved joints. The sheets of chipboard are then screwed on nailed to the joists below.

The boards can also be laid as a 'floating floor' on a concrete/screed base or on top of the floor insulation layer. Simply glue the joints using a suitable adhesive and slot together. D4 adhesive is the best type of glue to use when fixing these boards.

Any stubborn boards can be knocked together using a rubber mallet.

Is 22mm Caberfloor water proof?

When buyers are looking for water resistant wood flooring, they often mean moisture resistant flooring. There is no real need for water proof chipboard as it isn't something that would be submersed in water as standard. The requirement for a 22mm moisture resistant chipboard is though imporatant. 22mm Caberfloor P5 can be used in areas such as bathrooms and kitchens where there is a high moisture content.
