The benefits of Septic Tanks
When you’re building a property, and connection to a mains sewer isn’t practical, a septic tank is the simplest and most economical solution to domestic sewage disposal.
Robustly made, with low running and maintenance costs plus odour control, a septic tank a gives you the freedom to concentrate on developing the property, knowing the basics are taken care of.
How do septic tanks work?
Septic tanks typically have a two or three chamber system which allow solids to form into sludge over time. This is partially broken down through anaerobic digestion and the effluent is then discharged through an outlet pipe to a drainage field.
There are some simple guidelines to follow when installing a septic tank, to ensure the right distance from the property and from a water course. Access to tankers for emptying should also be taken into consideration.
How do I choose the right tank?
Septic tanks need to be large enough to suit the number of people living in the property. We stock various different sizes based on the number of people or number of bedrooms, and there’s a choice of spherical and cylindrical shapes to suit different types of ground and available space.
